The Hopeful Shuffle

Some of you may have read that title and automatically tried figuring it out. I'm a little hesitant to write about it cause I feel like its a tactic used by many that wouldn't want it exposed. I personally always felt strange using it growing up and definitely now as a grown up. There is something so silly about it.

Say your teacher asks you for your homework and you know you don't have it, but for some reason, you don't want to admit it. So you search for it. You ask your fellow classmates for it, who you know wouldn't have it or have seen it. It does not exist. Even so, you search until you hear the words, "when you find it, give it to me then". You sigh in relief and make sure you do that assignment in between periods, lunch, recess, gym, or even that night.

This is the hopeful shuffle.
