For those who know me after 2003 vs those who have known me since before that; they can all say friends are a major part of my life.
...Not to get too personal but I'm a very loyal friend. And I always want them to be around for life. Not just the moment.
Unfortunately this (in my experience) almost never happens. People move away and forget how to use the phone. Or you move away and they never remember to visit like they said they would. Or... They outgrow you, they're way too cool now. Or blah blah blah excuse excuse.
Does the reason sometimes even matter?
As I'm thinking about writing my next book, Letters, I feel that this topic must come up but the letter I need for it... I think is gone. Its the perfect example of why I am the way I am in my relationships with friends or even those who are more than friends.
To wrap this up, I'd like to say that writing non-fiction is a little harder than fiction. Maybe it's just me but when it comes to writing about my personal life, that's the easy part. But then it's the reader that makes it complicated. It's almost like they say, "Too much information." out loud, but whisper to you personally, "I think the same thing!". And like my mom always said to me, "Why do you want to put personal things out there for everyone to see. Get a diary." The answer is, I want to make a difference with my life. And I believe that sometimes when using your life as a tool to influence or help others... you need to be open about it. Makes sense? I think so.
So open yourself up today. Be honest about something.
