This is a topic I have thought about often. My feelings get hurt and for a while I had no idea why things bothered me so much. And to think it was something so simple. For example, I wasn't invited to a couple of meetings with a few people I usually do entrepreneur work with. And at first I got an attitude when I found out. I'm sure my friend who told me probably had no idea why I was snippy or rude, but then again I didn't either. My feelings were hurt that it seemed like I wasn't a part of this team anymore. I had worked my butt off for months and now I wasn't in the know? It hurt. Hurts.
Although deep down I don't believe any of this was intentional, it doesn't make it hurt any less. I'm sure we've all been there. And what I'm learning is that it's okay to get your feelings hurt. It's what you do after they're hurt that matters most. That's because that's when we're the most irrational and spiteful. On the flip side, that's when we can also become distracted and blue. In result, productivity is lost. We don't want that. Instead, take a moment, think practically, and then resolve the issue as an alternative to escalating the situation.
Now say it with me, "You hurt my feelings".
